67 caravel furnace...HELP...
Can anyone tell me how to seperate the furnace from the flue pipe. I'm trying to remove the furnace and replace the floor but can not see how to seperate the pipe. The outside fixture is loose from the outer skin, the furnace is loose from the wood cabinet, I can find no screws on either end. The outside fixture is spot welded together so other than cutting the end off I can't find any other recourse. Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gene

Hi Gene,
The tube connecting your furnace and the exhaust flue may have rusted and become one. The connecting spot is in the wall, so try to get behind the furnace and spray some rust solvent on the pipes to loosen them, and/or use as much careful brute force as you can. Good luck!

Furnace
Well, I sprayed the inner pipe real well, let it sit for an hour and then started to work it over, it appears the someone in the past had the unit out and welded the flu pipe to the intake/exhaust deflecter on the outside. So, with a chisel I was able to cut the deflecter off the flu pipe( 15 or so spot welds ) and the unit came right out. Now on to removal of the rest of the floor.
Thanks,
Gene

66 Caravel Furance
I have a Hydroflame furance as well.
I'm completing my renovations before the Beverly Beach get together.
Let me know if I should bring it. The cover is in great shape. The furnace would be great for parts. Sorry, I never tired firing "her" up. I replaced the furance w/ a Wave 8.

Mine worked great until it blew up, then I replaced it with a modern heater just like the new bambi's have. It has a fan and is so noisy compared to before. Nothing beats the old hydroflame for quiet and warm.
