1965 Caravel

Hi all,

Happy Holidays! It looks like the oven thermostat for our Caravel is going to need rebuilt. Does anyone know of some one reputable who can do this? We did contact one person in Southern California. They were a bit pricey, but, if anyone here has used them and has some input we would be happy to go that route. As it stands now, the oven turns on and heats up, but we are not sure if it will stop heating. Thanx in advance for any help you can offer.

Unless it is somehow a specialized RV oven, I would think any competent appliance repair service could do this.

Had the same problem with our '65 Caravel 14 years ago. After lots of looking, found a place that sold a rebuilt for about $100 but no guarantee. Decided to replace the whole unit for about twice that price. Took less than 15 minutes to do the exchange. Four screws and one gas fitting. Never been sorry. Replace the oven control and you still have a 51 year old stove.
