Wiring Refridgerator

I have purchased a used RV Refrigerator that is gas/ electric. Our camper had a residential fridge. Due to the type of camping we are doing, we really want the ability to use the fridge on gas. This new refrigerator is a typical RV Dometic refrigerator. I don't think the original frdige from my '78 Excella 500 had a 12 volt connection. I need to add a 12 volt connection for the fridge to work. I'm thinking I'll run wiring either directly from the batter with an inline fuse or from the panel box. Not sure yet. suggestions welcome.

I would like to know suggestions on what gauge wiring I should use and what size inline fuse would be best?

There will be a 12v wire in your compartment behind the access door for the fridge. All of the fridges use 12v for their controls. Look for a wire that is taped off and check with a meter for power. It will come from your 12v distribution panel and will be fused. Chris

Actually, the earlier fridges did not have a 12 volt control board. My 1975 did not have one. I would look for the nearest 12 volt line and tap off of that. The control board in the newer fridges do not pull much power. In my 75 there was a TV connection and plug above the fridge. That would have been my power if I had replaced the fridge.
