Where to buy

We have bought a new to us 1976 Overlander. The original Dometic rm760 refrigerator is not working and i don't think is is salvageable. So now i am looking for a new used(preferably) or new refrigerator to replace it. Where is the best place to get this. I can install it myself , just need the unit. Thanks so much. Bruce

Camping World ?

There appears to be one near you in Anniston, Alabama.

I'd call or web search Dometic for the right size and model. Your model will most likely be discontinued. then call Call Camping World for availability, or to order it.

There are other places to buy them online and have it shipped to you.

It's past coffee temperature here in Alabama so a beer would be in order. Who is the second number?

Camping World has occasional block buster sales, which is when we bought ours. Unfortunately, I think it was in February that year....

PPL Motor Homes is the second number

They are basically an internet store. I needed parts for my fridge, and the lady on the phone KNEW HER STUFF. They came off as a PRO outfit. But I could have just lucked out.
( maybe the parts that broke are a common weak link and she was experienced because she sold those all of the time. ) Anyway I used them because i was far away from Camping world that day.

Hopefully Dometic, Camping World, or PPL will know the perfect model to replace your dinosaur

By the way…..your fridge was READY to go. If they start leaking ammonia gas…it's a unhealthy situation. I had a 1973 fridge that I replaced in 2005.

Go to the Dometic website. They have a cross reference table for replacement models. With dimensions.

I checked PPL and Camping World when I bought the fridge for my 68 Trade Wind a few years ago. PPL was nearly $200 less for the same unit. They were very nice to deal with and shipping to MS only took 2 days.

There's not much to the old fridges, the fridge in my '77 still works but I had to put in a new heating element for $50.
Might want to trouble shoot everything before giving up on the old one

The fridge is in poor condition and I think it needs a new cooling unit. The door is warped and doesn't close completely.
I think may have found one that will fit, with some minor modification to the cabinet, for about half the cost of a new one.

Well, I found a Dometic RM 3862 that I went and picked up yesterday. Got it home and hooked it up in the basement after cleaning the insulation and stuff out of the fins. After about 8 hours the temperature in the fridge section is at about 40 degrees! Woo Hoo!! I gave the guy $125 for it. Now to do a little cabinet work to make it fit since ti is about 3 inches taller.
