??Used Dometic-$25 on Craigslist??

I just found a used Dometic on cl and wondered if it would be worth buying to use in my restoration project. The listing says:

Quote:
The previous owner said it works, but we never tried it out because we are renovating the trailer.
I can ask if they would plug it in to see of it gets cold but are they rebuildable if it doesn't work. I have seen the new prices on them and thought if I could get this one this cheap it may be worth it.

Don't you think if they are renovating their trailer they would reuse it if it worked?

I would've thought but I figured maybe they were updating the look of the trailer. It looks very dated.

I sent them an email asking I they could plug it in and why they werent using it for their restoration. I'll see what they say.

It's about 120 miles away but I could have a friend pick it up.

The actual "guts", the cooling unit, can be replaced by a semi-handy person (i.e. me) in a few hours for about $400. The brains, in the older units, are dead simple and can be replaced for a hundred and fifty or so.

That being said, you would have considerable bucks in a unit that may have corossion, poor insulation, physical damage...

But if your total investment to get eyes on it is $25, I don't see much of a downside
