Replacing Dometic RM60a with 2510

I'm in the process of replacing the fridge in my '71 Safari. The old fridge is an RM60a and I'm replacing it with a Dometic RM 2510.2

For the folks who have replaced their fridges what modifications were required when you installed your new fridge? My new fridge looks to be about an inch taller and doesn't have areas to attach the walls like the original fridge. So I"ll have to come up with a new way to securing the fridge and making a new sealed enclosure.

I'm really curious as to what you all have done to secure your fridges especially the RM60 replacements.

Thanks!

The Dometic RM2510.2 doesn't have attachment points around the top of the fridge, so I went ahead and installed a couple of aluminum straps around the fridge and attached them to the floor. I made a thick aluminum plate with a 90 degree bend and screwed it into the baseplate of the fridge and the floor for added stability. I sealed up the front sides against the bulkheads. I was able to reuse the top piece and leveled it out and attached it to the side as well as screwed the bulkheads into this piece. Since the fridge is taller than the previou fridge, I wasn't able to use the support piece that attached the top area on the fridge to to the storage area on the ceiling. No matter as I'm going to make a face plate that will hold my TriMetric Battery Monitor as well as a couple of other monitors such as the fridge temp display. I'll post photos. It's not the cleanest install, but everything works. I ran the fridge for 24 hours and the freezer was 3 degrees and the fridge was 34. That was with the thermostat on 5, so I turned it down to 4 to warm it up a bit.

Dometic RM60A replacement

Hello, I have an old dometic RM60A as well. Its not working up to par anymore, and it looks like parts are out of the question. I am interested on how your replacement went. Was the RM2510.2 a pretty good fit? Any info/pictures would be great! Thanks.

This chart lists the dimensions for both these units. They are close, but not identical. http://w2.distone.com/bradstrailer/d...eplacement.pdf

Also, you will need to run a 12 volt wire to the new refrigerator to run the control panel. I doubt your original unit had a 12 volt line.

I JUST got my 1972 Airstream home Saturday. I briefly looked, but couldn't tell how the fridg is mounted (This is my newest Airstream I have ever owned, TOTALLY different than older ones).
How exactly is it mounted?
Thanks in advance!
