Refrigerator light out

I searched for this issue in the forums, and did learn about how to replace the door switch, and that is what I think I'm going to do.

But first, I wanted to run the symptoms by you just to confirm my path.

I have tested using a multimeter:

continuity check on the bulb --> good
continuity check on the pins of the recessed bulb receptacle --> good
voltage check on the + and - wires of the bulb receptacle --> no volts
continuity check on the door light switch --> tone on both open and closed switch (to me indicates a short)
voltage check on the door light switch wires --> 0 volts

Now, how in the heck is the bulb OFF on with the switch being shorted???

I am stumped, so I will probably get a replacement switch anyway, but I was hoping someone would reveal to me a secret refrigerator light fuse or some other magical item....

Thanks for all of your help in this and my past queries! It has helped sooo much and save me so much money!

I've removed the bulb completely so it's a non issue. When the bulb was in it was drawing a fair amount of current all the time. Removed it and issue solved. If the fridge works why worry about it?

But, how do you find your beer in the dark?

Easy. I can smell my beer. I am a beer-hound.

Can't find anything else in there, but beer is not safe around me.

It's not drawing current. But I would prefer having a light in the refrigerator. And my wife insists on it. So, there's that.
