Post Refrigerator Heating Element

I have a 1973 Airstream International and the local camper repair shop told me that my heating element was defective and that replacements where no longer available. The gas portion works fine but I am preparing to sell my AS and would like to get my fridge up and running electrically. Can anyone steer me in the right direction so that I can locate the heating element so that everything works for the buyer?
Any help will be appreciated.

Try "gas refigeration.net'' also Ebay sometimes has some. I think it would be smart to pull the old one,it should have the wattage stamped on it.Did the mechanic do an olhm reading? It could be the electric thermostat.the older units had separate T-stats,for gas and electric.

Try these guys for new and used parts, same folks that Doug posted:
120v heaters
There here on the west coast, but will ship certain parts.

Badco,

Do yourself a favor an perform this little test. Follow the wires from the element back to the control board. Remove the 2 wires for the element that plug into the board, and using 14 guage jumper wires, plug the element directly into a 120VAC outlet. If it's good, it will begin to get noticeably warm in about 10 minutes.

If not, unplug it and do a continuity test on the element with a multimeter set on resistance. If you get no reading, there is no continuity in the element and it is bad.

If so, measure the legs of the element and the diameter and let me know what they are. If you can't find one, I'll do a search of my suppliers for you.

Try almost any "mom and pop" RV parts place that has been around for awhile. They often have several dust covered packages of various wattages. I've had good luck in several places in the West.
