Thermistor replacement
Hi. My Dometic refrigerator suddenly started freezing everything in the refrigerator section. Upon searching the internet it seems a bad thermistor was probably the culprit. I never had the plastic thermistor clip, so in the past I used a binder clip. After researching parts I ended up purchasing this kit which included a thermistor, clip, and grommet for the back of the frig. Amazon, DOMETIC 3851210025 Thermistor Kit, ( https://a.co/d/7VXYvJK ). My old thermistor was smaller and black, But the refrigerator model and thermistor part search informed me that the new thermistor was correct. Initially I was planning on pulling the new thermistor from the frig into the control section outside. But it was obvious the control board connector was to big to go thru the hole in the back of the frig. So I ended up cutting the connector of the old thermistor wire and taped the new thermistor securely to the old wire. I pulled the wire from inside the frig. Pulling was a bit difficult, at times I was afraid I might break the wire, it appears the old wire was glued somehow to the back of the frig. Ultimately I safely succeeded. The new grommet in the kit was welcome as the wire hole was slightly different. In my internet searches, it seems the thermistor’s are not very secure in the plastic clip’s, and the solution is a small hole with a small panduit, so I did the same. 1-day later and refrigerator temps are where they are supposed to be, Hooray!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
& God Bless!
