I knew that almost all RV refrigerators need to be defrosted periodically, but I've run into a lot of younger people who simply never had an old refrigerator and can't imagine black and white TV's or computer monitors. They wonder what that huge lump of ice is in the top back side of their refrigerators and why the unit seems to not be cooling as well as it used to.
An hour later, after removing all of the food, turning off the fridge, filling a bucket with Ice sheets and dripping water and using a hair dryer to break up the icebergs - their refrigerator is ready to work again, and work WELL.

I once suggested to some one to try that and they were adamant that their fridge was a frost free and something had to be wrong. The freezer 1/4 full of ice totally confused them. They called a mobile repair man. The first and only thing he did was turn off, empty and defrost the unit. It worked 100% after that. My advice, free. His $200.
