Norcold Refrigerator trim piece problems.

Hi, I installed a Norcold Refrigerator in my 1972 Overlander and for the life of me can’t figure out what is going on with the bottom trim piece. I contacted Norcold and they didn’t seem to know why it was doing this. You can see in the picture the trim piece looks like it will only work if the refrigerator is off the ground, but Norcold even recommended that the fridge be on the ground rather than on a cabinet or something like that. Can anyone take a look at the pictures below and let me know if they have ran into this? Thanks!

Can you just remove that piece? Looks like a trim piece that you would use if you did install it in a cabinet?

I’d gladly just remove the piece, but the install manual says it is required to keep carbon monoxide from entering the trailer when using LP
