How to dispose of old frig?
I need dispose of my old RV propane/electric frig. I have been told that I will need to drain the ammonia. How do you do that?

We took ours to the city landfill, which has an area just for appliances. They charged $5.00 for the disposal and have a company that comes and dismantles them, and preps them for recycle.

Good luck on your project. Here are some pictures of removing mine from my 1976 Sovereign. There are a lot of screws but once they are out you should be able to move it. I put mine on a 2 wheel dolly and strapped it down. Then I rolled it out the door.

Ah, if those fridges are not leaking ammonia, you may be able to give them to one or another of the forum members.

I have offered to give my frig free of cost to anyone on the forum who wants it and lives within driving distance of Houston, TX. So for no takers. It works fine on both propane and elect and still looks good. I can't ship it, iit would need to be picked up.

I was finally able to get rid what was left of the old frig and my two old Henschen axles. I could not find a scrap yard that would take the stuff so I had 1-800-got junk haul them off for $139.

The Dump is the best place to get rid of stuff, But living in the country like I do. I was digging down from my pond to put in some Irrigation pipes and found and old dump hole from previous owners. Dryer, fringe, microwave, tire rims..... that was just near the top of the hole. I didn't dig it all up.
This is not the recommended method for disposal.......
