Fridge fan mod
I made the Fridge duct for moving air around inside the fridge. This is the second one I have made. Mine and this one that’s for my Mom and Dad. Easy to build and work amazingly well!
Items needed:
2x3 aluminum extrusion
2x3 plastic end caps
Small switch
3 amp breaker or inline fuse
Red and black wire
Few crimp connectors
(2) 60mm 12volt fans
And some tools.
Ground wire connects to one of the screws on the cooling fins and red (+) runs down the drain tube and connects to 12 volt behind fridge.
Held in place with Velcro and takes up almost NO useable space in fridge.

Ronnie, looks cool. What did this do, move air in the fridge to eliminate dead spots? Or does it actually help cooking because it moves air across fins?

GMFL
Looks like a great design to me. I generally carry some ice and ice packs in my fridge due to the sometimes mediocre performance especially when in route. This looks like another step to help the fridge performance especially in warm weather. Where did you find the extruded aluminum and the end caps?
Thanks for the great design and for sharing with everybody.

Excellent and industrious!
Great job, please let us all know how your temps are when it’s over 85 outside.
I am sure many here want to know.
Thanks for posting.

Fridge temps
This one is for my Dad. I’ve been running mine for almost 2 years and my fridge temps are 35-36 degrees with it 100 degrees. It works wonderfully.
Below are today’s temps
Outside in the shade! 91.3
Inside freezer 1.4
Fridge middle shelf 35.7

Nice, but I added up $71 before shipping for the parts on your list.

I paid the hundred bucks for the Fridge Fix, the design you appear to have based this on. This type of fan works miracles on a DC fridge. Zero frost on the fins, and even cooling throughout. Nice fabrication.

I never said my way was the cheapest. I enjoy the fabrication work. It keeps my mind moving.

I’m sure GMFL’s is constructed better as well. Seem when you make things or DIY it’s always better....

Holes are 1/2” on 1” centers offset.
3M Velcro is how I attached.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Mine personal one has been running non stop for almost 2 years with no problems.
