Dometic RM2451 Refrigerator/Freezer

Hello All,

Our 2011 20FB has a Dometic Refrigerator/Freezer, Model RM2451. We can't get it to cool past 61 degrees in the refrigerator and 10 degrees in the freezer. We took it to our local Airstream service center and were told it needs a new unit.

We'd like to attempt to repair our existing unit before going the route of a new one. Feedback from anyone who has shared this problem is appreciated!

Is it the same on electric and propane?

How long are you letting it run?

Often, when the freezer gets icy cold and the reefer doesn’t follow, it indicates an occlusion in the tubing that forms the lower cooling unit.

There are lots of outfits that rebuild the cooling sections of these units as they are very popular in Amish country.

We replaced the cooling section in our previous trailers’ RM2820 with a rebuilt unit and it was still going strong ten years later when we sold it. My wife and I did the job in a couple of hours.
