Dometic Refrigerator Model RM75

Can anyone please tell me where I can purchase new refrigerator and freezer door hinge pins and bushings for my Dometic refrigerator? I will be overjoyed if someone can share this information with me. Thank you so much.

Go to any place that sells new Dometic refrigerators. They take the old ones and toss them into the dumpster... unless the owner wants the old model.

Camping World... is great source of... parts in the dumpster. Ask and you shall receive.

Whoops... wrong century. Just search the internet for yours. Prepare yourself for a 'stiff price'. These older models have been recycled and turned into other useable things...

I kept all of the good spare parts for a 2006 23 foot Safari. The replacement never had an issue. Someday the new old stock parts will be worth more than what I paid for a replacement refrigerator... by the year 2145.

That was a very odd post.

Anyway, my RM75 needs the plastic door bushings. I can't find them online so I was going to look at my local Ace Hardware. I know they have bronze bushings.

If that didn't work I was going to look at McMaster Carr. I'm sure they have something to fit the pin but I thought I might have to enlarge the hole in the aluminum frame.

The RV mechanic where I keep my trailer said there are the best refrigerators. Made in Sweden. He said he would keep it going even if it meant putting a new cooling unit in when it goes out.

I have searched every website possible. No one has been able to help so far? We may have to improvise and "make" something else work. Was just hoping I could find an easy answer for a magical "Refrigerator Hinge Pin" supplier. The current runs are intact however the lower refrigerator for drags and you have to " lift up" on the door to shut it properly. I thought maybe new pins and bushings would help??? Thank you for your time and advice.

I need to lift up on the doors to close them too. If I remember the pins are metal. I know the bushings are plastic. I still had bushings on the opposite side of the hinge and I tried swapping them but it wasn't much better.

Try this:

I was able to fix a broken freezer door with parts from them. Each little plastic part was $20, but hey cheaper than a new refrigerator! Not sure if they have the part you need.

I took my door off of my 86 and added a couple of small washers between the hinge and what was left of the nylon washer. Works fine now and doesn't drag.

I wish you luck finding what you need. Something like nylon bushings can probably be made in a local machine shop for a few bucks. My Dometic is so old that when I called Sweden after calling everyone I could find in the US and Canada looking for a door seal, they said my model number was not even in their system. A door seal like mine finally turned up at a WBCCI yard sale following an International rally. It was for a larger reefer than mine but I was able to cut and miter it to fit and the old girl still cools and makes ice.

Yes... Post #2. As I was responding, I noticed you had an older model Airstream. Since other Forum Members might not realize the Model number of their Dometic was not like theirs, some may have had some interest in locating a part... I did not delete and squeezed in that one paragraph.

Many late model parts can be found for no cost at all from junked or replaced units.

Sometimes lessons are learned by not deleting a post after realizing the error. Now we all know the story of the 'very odd post'. You and your comment will be a reminder that sometimes help may seem odd and out of character, but still of value to someone.

I wasn't sure what you were trying to say in post #2. What I thought you were suggesting was he throw away his refrigerator and buy new.

Hello.
I just pulled a model RM100 out of my '77. If I can't get it working I'd be willing to scrap it out for parts for those who may need them. I'm sure many of the parts are interchangeable.

I would be interested Iansk if that does become a possibility. Hopefully for you it is able to be repaired so you don't have to purchase a new one.
