Dometic Fridge I think--need help

Hi, Still new to this site but, totally love all the feed back. We just purchased a 1964 Overlander. We have no info or history on this unit. I believe we have a Dometic fridge. The only number I can find says unit type
510A. I believe it is both gas and electric. Can anyone help with info. My husband changed out the electrical cord and plugged it in. Nothing appears to be happening. Not sure how it operates and looking for some direction. It may just be gone. Thanks

I had a pink one just like it with the rust and all I pulled out of my 61' ! I put it on Craigslist for free and it was gone 15 minutes after I posted it. I talked a service guy at an AS dealer who owns several AS's and he told me to toss mine. I guess they can be quite a fire hazard if not working correctly.

If you're not used to RV type fridges they can fool you.
They don't hum or run or buzz like the fridge in the house.
It's all a rather mysterious system of heat causing the gas in the coil to expand and pass through a restricted oriface which causes the cooling to occur. Not that I understand any of it...
But it won't make ANY noise. Let it set plugged in for a few hours then check the freezer. Hopefully you will be rewarded for your patience.
Also, make sure the fridge is level. I thought mine was on the blink because it stopped cooling. Turned out that when I moved the tailer a few feet to mow around it I hadn't remembered to re level the trailer.
I have had a couple of old Dometics in other campers and my experience is that they are quirky but very reliable.
Good luck
Jerry

Some of these units must have a 12 volt supply for instrumentation as well as the 110 ac. The same goes for the ac unit. Best of luck
