I never get extended warranties on anything, although if I bought a new Airstream I would strongly consider one. Just from reading the forums and talking to new owners (leaks seem to be the biggest problem), might be short money in the long run. The refer: A neighbor who owns SOB just three years old but the Dometic 3 year warranty has just expired, turns the refer on the night before their Independence Day week vacation - first outing for the year. A couple hours later, nice and cold, load it and ready to leave in the AM. Next morning, it's a balmy 70F. Pilot lights, switches over to electric, heater is operating, but no cooling. RV repair speculates condensing unit $$$, but recommends replacing the whole fridge $$$$. He's weighing his options.
