Ac dc refrigerators
I’m looking into replacing my stock Dometic refrigerator in my 2019 19’ FC and I’m interested in hearing of your general brand recommendations and experiences with this type of refrigeration. I’ve completed some cursory internet research regarding Norcold, Nova Cool and Vitrifrigo. Please enlighten me with your vast and valuable knowledge! Thank you. Don

The Nova Cool in my GT has been great so far (a little less than a year). I've read here that the hinge assembly on some of the Norcold's can sag and cause the retention latch to fail, leading to fridge contents on the floor.

We installed a Vitrifrigo in our coach a number of years ago and traveled with it for years. Very happy with it, and other than a problem with the initial control box (later corrected with an updated version) did not have problems. It cooled great and just did what it was supposed to.
When we did have the initial problem with the control box, the company's office in Florida sent us the replacement without hassle and without going through the dealer.

Last month I swapped out the original Dometic fridge for the Vitrifrigo DP2600. It’s vastly better than the propane version it replaced. I did hear how some older versions had the power issue mentioned in the previous post, but was assured by Vitrifrigo that the latest version has fixed the issue. The build quality is top notch and it’s nice having the extra space and a fridge that cools down in under 30 min. I installed Ruuvi sensors in the freezer and fridge compartments and have seen the freezer get as cold as -5 F and the fridge easily maintains 35 F at the third of the six temp settings. I do have a 600/400 solar setup so the minimal 12v power draw is not an issue.

We went with an ISOThem cruise 65.
It’s great . We are surprised by how much stuff we can put into it .
It will be at temperature within an hour or so ( we do help it by adding frozen stuff). Power usage is minimal.
It’s silent
With our 2x 100ah lithium I think we could do 2-3 days without power

Now installing my third Dometic CSX 110 in a vintage trailer. Was going to try an Isotherm but found a smoking deal on the Dometic. All of these "compressor" fridges are similar, big difference being compressor placement either top or bottom. All my units have been trouble free and work well. Lighter weight, easier placement in trailer, no venting to outside, a lot to like. Possible downside, like your home frdge you can hear the compressor kick on and run with several possible factors infuencing actual noise in the trailer.
Good luck, Mark D

Just upgraded from a Dometic RM2551 to the Vitrifrigo DP150 in a 23D.
The Vitrifrigo unit was a bit difficult to fit into the existing cabinet and required about an additional inch of clearance added to the height and about 2 inches off the width of the opening.
The DP150 also isn’t available with a stainless door finish, so had to add new ss panels to the front of the unit.
Pretty impressed so far…. This unit is cold/below freezing in about 20 minutes and seems to consume below 2 amps when operating the compressor…. Automatically switches from DC to AC upon detecting shore/generator power.
The separate freezer is also substantially larger than the Dometic unit and the fridge section has led lighting.

I installed a Nova Kool R4500 to replace my Dometic 3 way "unfrigerator" and have no regrets whatsoever. The only reliable thing about the Dometic was that it would seem to work fine whenever I tested it after doing each of many attempted repairs, but then would crap out and revert to outdoor temperature in the middle of each trip. Happy to have that gone.
I can get 4-5 days of running time on 2-100ah lithium batteries in full shade or overcast conditions, including some microwave and hair dryer use, but with 300 watts of solar and decent sun conditions, it will run indefinitely.
Your fridge is probably of similar size.
