2022 Norcold Fridge does not latch, check it!

Went from Glenwood Springs, CO to Steamboat Springs, CO, and found the lower contents of our fridge on the floor. What a mess. The Norcold lower fridge door is sagging enough now that the latch pin does not engage the latch bracket slot. I moved the latch bracket in as much as possible and also moved the center door hinge bracket out as far as possible but it will still not latch unless you reach down and lift up on the bottom corner of the door. I contacted Norcold and they could offer no suggestion other than take it to a dealer. The Airstream dealer is about 3 months out for warranty service. I now put the emergency duck tape latch on when we are traveling. Check your doors to make sure the pin is latching properly.

I find it just amazing that we have brand-new Airstreams that require the kind of solutions shown in the other thread! I should have known I was not the only one. I simply bent over an edge on the duck tape and put about a 9" piece on. You usually can get a few uses out of it.

When looking at it I thought I could remove the center hinge and machine the slots longer which would slightly angle the freezer door down and the refrigerator door up solving the issue. The other option is to remove the latch bracket and machine the slot longer but it did not appear to have that much extra material on the ends so it would likely break out. With that said I could just machine a completely new latch bracket with longer slots. I just dropped the trailer off this morning and wish I had taken the latch bracket off since the doors are wide open. Maybe I should go by and get it. I could also 3D print a new latch bracket that would probably be strong enough.

Yet another aspect of RV product designs that are just minimized. Why not make the latch bracket a tenth of an inch longer on each end to compensate for any future sag?
