2008 Bambi fan for refrigerator

I have a 2008 Bambi with the Dometic RM2351 refrigerator. Refrig works fine on gas or electric but after this trip we turned it off and the fan kept running. Finally we unplugged the fan (inside the outside vent cover for the fan). We replugged the refigerator and fan and recyled all options re on/off etc. and still when the refrig is off the fan keeps running ! Help. This is only the second trip (we bought it used this year). The local RV repair folks in our area have been less than helpful on some other maintenance (toilet etc leaks). So I doubt they could figure this one out. Have read the Dometic manuals and it says we have a swtich inside the refrigerator door but neither my husband or I can find it... so far love the airstream except it seems to have major repair issues.

The fan is running because it has a temperature sensor on it at the cooling coils. It runs independent of the on/off switch at the front of the fridge. It's purpose is to cool those coils, once cool it should go off. If it runs for a long time after the fridge is off then maybe the sensor is stuck in the on position. Simple replacement if so. You will see on the top of the coils in the back of the unit a dime sized round sensor clamped to the coils with two wires running from it. That is the sensor.

You should also know that the sensor governing the fan, if it has been a hot day, will turn the fan on even when the fridge has been off and is not operating.

Not sure if your model Airstream has the same switch, but our 2005 19-foot Bambi has a fan switch just inside the door that turns the power to the refrigerator cooling fan off and on. Ours is about 2 or 3 feet above the floor, on the right side of the door as you are inside looking out. If you turn this off, the fan won't run. With it on, the fan will run when the sensor allows power to flow.
