Well, we just bought this safari and are in the process of repainting the interior when, low and behold, I remove a couple of picture frames to reveal speaker holes with wires. My problem is I cannot figure out where in the world they are going. If I knew where the factory stereo was located it would be a huge help. This is a bit frustrating. Help please!
I've looked through all my photos of my '77 before I completely emptied it and I don't see the radio. My best guess is that it is in this flip-out next to the kitchen counter. My Sovereign had the same flip-out kind of thing, but it was in an armrest next to the door.
Don't be alarmed by the aluminum "ladder." That's the goucho frame on the way out.
The only other place I can think it might be is behind a tambour in the eyebrow cabinet.

In my 1979 Safari, the radio is located in the small cabinet in front of the sink.

Wow, that was a much quicker response than I had anticipated. I will definitely check those areas when I return home on Monday. The airstream was retrofitted by the po so I will be looking for some patched holes. So far the only patch I have located is in the corner just left of the 12 volt fuse box.
Thanks
