What is this?

I was trying to set the twin beds up in my '71 Safari and found these wooden triangles in the way. The bed will not lay flat with them there.

They look factory to me. I think they are to support the weight of the bed when it is made into a couch so when you put pressure on the back downward it holds it.

I ended up removing them because I cannot lay the bed flat with them. Or maybe I am just confused.

Can you shed any light on the subject?

A few pictures to follow...

Tim

That does not look orginal to me......I imagine someone put that in to support the back cushion - perhaps the filler cushion is missing and that block was used to hold up that back cushion?

What's a filler cushion and where was it used?

Basically it's a narrow cushion that supports the back when it is in the seated position and adds width to the bed when it's in the bed position. Here's a picture of our bed with the filler cushion against the wall

Thanks for the info Shari.

Still wondering though what these boards are for.

Anyone with a '71 Safari with twins can check theirs or take a picture for me?
