It's here at last
We started the process of buying our "new to us" 1971 Airstream 23' Land Yacht Safari with Airstream of Chicago on May 28, and were finally able to bring it home after all the needed safety improvements yesterday.
Today we began the cleanup and fixup work that we think we can do ourselves, hoping it will be clean and both looking and smelling good by fall.
Here's how it looks so far (attachment)
Also, in case anyone is interested, we have 2 unneeded plastic wheel covers left over from the original wheels. Similarly, Airstream of Chicago still has 3 original wheels and tires that they'll dispose of in a few days unless someone wants them for some reason. Photo of the wheel covers is attached. If anyone wants to see what the old wheels looked like (rusty), I kept one as a spare, and could take and post a photo of it.
Next challenge will be removing the two front couches. Once out, those too will be up for grabs. they've got mouse damage, so would need to be refoamed and recovered before reuse. We plan to use that part of the trailer living area in other ways, once we figure out how to get them gone.
The twin beds also had mouse damage, but those have already been refoamed and reupholstered and look great. We're just waiting to reinstall them in the trailer until we're sure it's cleaned up enough to be critter-free.
