Where are you headed next?

To me anticipation is one of the things I enjoy about camping. Doing the research and planning on where to go next and then organizing it. I thought it would also be fun to talk about it.

Our next trip is to South Beach State Park located on the Oregon Coast just across the Yaquina Bay bridge from Newport. It’s one of our favorite spots and we go there often. We love the seafood available on the Coast which is one of the highlights. Also, the stretch on 101 south of Newport is one of the most scenic on the Coast.

And only a comfortable 4-hour drive from our house.

Where are you headed next?

Cheers,
John & Vicki

South Beach State Park looks great! Will have to make note of that. Perhaps next year if we do the American lung Association ride "Reach the Beach" which runs out to the coast. We did the sister ride a few years back from Olympia to Westport and then camped out there for a week!

Anyway, we are planning a 2 weeks venture which will take us to 6 different spots in Southern BC. We have 2 overnight stops in the Fraser Canyon, then 2 different spots in Revelstoke Provincial Park, Then 2 different spots in Kelowna area.

This will give us a chance to stretch our new power system and see what it can do.

The Panamint Valley. (The valley just west of Death Valley.)

Very few people on the ground but a military airshow in the sky. Airspace closed to civilian aircraft.

My kind of boon docking.

That sounds really cool but probably very hot!

I am always worried about being so isolated that this becomes my tow vehicle:

What do you do to keep your peace of mind in these areas?

First out is just a trip to a state park in Colorado, where I'll help my brother and his wife learn how to use their new-to-them RV! Hoping for August to go either up to Taylor Reservoir or up on Grand Mesa someplace. Taylor is high enough that we may experience "first freeze" of the year. Nothing like sleeping in a sleeping bag on a chilly morning!

We're headed to Great Smoky Mountains NP, and then if we can get into Maine, Acadia NP.

True it will be hot but an A/C and a Honda genny solve that side of it. Creating and staying in shade helps too.

Now my favorite spot is on a hillside about 3 miles up an fairly easy dirt road from the pavement. Easy for any vehicle if you just slow down and enjoy.

Now your last question cracked me up. Being away from everyone does give me peace of mind. Being in crowds or campgrounds takes it away.

Many folks are uncomfortable all alone in a vast expanse. Could never understand that.

For those folks are many places in the Mojave where you can camp and be an acre or so away from your fellow campers. Far enough for elbow room but close enough for comfort.

Gotta love Oregon. 95 degrees here where I live in Central Oregon next week, 60 degrees at Coast where I will be camping.
