It'll depend mainly on fuel prices.
If fuel is within reason, I could see going to:
LeRoy in spring, then the U.P. of MI, Northwest IL by the Mississippi and a few local trips.....but all bets are off if gas stays well into the $2/gallon range getting between 13 to 14 mpg towing.

I will be going to Northern Arizona and Western New Mexico the last two weeks of March. Seeing the normal stuff, grand canyon, meteor crater, native american sites, petrified forest, VLA etc. Hopefully hooking up with Frederic (hope he doesnt bring the magic 8 ball) and see the grand canyon with him. If things turn out right might travel with him and his two little one's a few days.
Any idea's (other than stay out of my state....LOL) would be greatly appreciated!

igor, if you get a chance, be sure to see Canyon de Chelley in the northeast corner of Arizona. It is stunning plus entrance and camping is free at the campground adjacent to the entrance.

Our 06 begins with us already on vacation in the Florida Keys. We depart early in December for a month long visit to Florida.
Other than that, we will likely spend a month beginning on Labor Day, first visiting Asheville, NC then Williamsburg, then a week in the art museums and Smithsonians in Wash. DC, then down to Atlanta to visit relatives, then home.

2006? Whose finished with 2005?
We sneaked away for two days at Port Townsend this weekend. The campground was mostly empty, the views incredible and the sunrise spectacular! A bald eagle rested on the sandbar right in front of us but the camera was in the truck.

No 2006 Homecoming...

FYI...Larry Huttle spoke at the Region 11 Rally last week and mentioned that there would not be a 2006 Homecoming. It will be back in 2007 though as a 'every-other-year' event.
Might want to make a differnet plan for May ~
Not sure of our plans for 2006 yet...except the International Rally in Salem, OR and the RMVAC Rally ( somewhere yet to be determined) and a few DenCO Unit Rallies. I'm really looking forward to some casual outings with friends this next summer...after 2005's rally schedule (70 nights, 6000 miles May-Oct, mostly by myself while working every minute between outings), I'm really looking forward to a more low-key travel schedule (with Mr. InsideOut) for 2006....either that or full-time retirement!

I'm with you! We're off this weekend to Rhode Island! One more trip planned after this. (if the snows not too deep)

My wife and I returned home at the beginning of the month, after spending June and September at Yellowstone's Edge RV Park, which is 20 miles south of Livingston, MT. During August, we spent some time in Missoula, MT, then went up to Libby, MT and into British Columbia, staying at Castlegar, BC along the upper Columbia River, and then on to Lake Louise and Banff.
Sometime in the early spring, I'll probably be going to Jackson Center for some additional repair work on our trailer (does that count as part of our plans for 2006?) then in June we'll be heading out to Montana and the northwest for the remainder of the summer.
We already have our reservations again for the months of July and September at Yellowstone's Edge, but we don't have any firm plans for August yet. Two summers ago we went onto Vancouver Island during August, which was fantastic, and we just might do the same again this coming year.
If anyone is heading toward Yellowstone Country this coming year, stop by Yellowstone Edge RV Park and say "Hello".
John

Light at the end of the tunnel
Looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel that might not be a train , and I will most likely be finishing my PhD in mid March . If all goes as hoped I will have the last part of March and the better part of April for travel. Starting from middle Tn, I am thinking about heading down the Natchez Trace parkway, over to Padre Island sea shore, maybe hit the Alamo. Then on to Big Bend NP, Gudalupe NP, white sands, Roswell, and over to Silver City.
Anybody familar with any of these areas is more than welcome to chime in on the details and things to see, I would greatly apreciate that sort of information ahead of time.

flyfisher -
Looks like we may be off to Yellowstone in September. If so, we'll be sure to look you up. Be great to meet up with the other 'flyfisher' on the forums.Let's keep checking our schedules and who knows what may happen.

Flyfshr-Sorry for the late reply
Flyfshr, sorry I am so tardy in getting back with you on the N. or S. Arizona question.
Most likely will be going the N. Arizona route. Got a cousin with a new baby up that way. Hear the scenery is awesome too! Went thru Monument Valley back in March and want to see it all again. Four corners was a bit of a let down, but worth seeing once at least, IMO. Kids loving from foot to foot and being in different states. Anything for a laugh huh?
Are still considering going to Carlsbad in S. NM for New Years but the weather has been so nuts that it makes it tougher to plan too far out ( wifey don't like it cold!). They are supposed to get 3+ inches of snow tonight!!! They'll be talking about it for years if it happens....!
Anyway, to all that out on the roads - be safe!!!
We had a neighbor killed in a head on accident not 3/4 mile from the house. They were getting the mail at the PO and some drunk hit him head on. Isn't there some saying about a 5 mile radius around your house is the statisically most dangerous area to drive in?? Sigh.
Drinking and driving DO NOT MIX! Poor family!
Regardless, be SAFE out there!
Ciao
Axel

David,
Is your last photo of the Cottonwood Campground? I am planning on being there the last part of March.

Sometime around the first week of January I start my Airstream adventure. I'll escape NE Ohio, and head to Cottonwood, AZ. Pick up my Ambassador there, after it spent the summer being mechanically reconditioned. Then head to Sacramento, CA for 4 months or so. Then take her back to Ohio in May when the snow is gone.

How I envy all of you, your plans to travel. I plan to work and hope to get to the lake on week-ends. I know I could go more often if I could just teach myself to back a trailer. My husband works out of town a lot, so if he's not here the trailer doesn't get out of the yard. Sitting in your Argosy out by the side of the house isn't quite as much fun as going to Yellowstone.
