I'll kick this off with our "meteor strike" story:
We're driving on a divided Interstate highway, very light traffic, nobody ahead or behind us for at least a quarter mile. Huge, wide median separated us from on-coming traffic by close to 100 yards. No overpasses for miles. We felt practically alone on the road. And then
it happened.
Suddenly we both hear a loud "whack" on the hood of our Avenue class b. We looked a each other, both stunned by the loud sound and the totally unexpected nature given our remoteness from possible sources. At first the point of impact was hard to detect, but we finally noticed it near the leading edge of hood on the passenger side.
Once we found an exit to safely pull off, we found a 1" impact dent that appeared to strike from overhead and slightly
from the rear. Remember, we were traveling 70mph at the time it struck. This was not a smooth dent, but rather a rough, sharp crease that scrapped through the hood paint.
A further look also showed an additional impact point on the top painted bumper directly below the hood dent indicating a very steep, nearly vertical angle of impact.
We decided it had to be small meteor impact. Sounds good, anyway, so that's our story and we're sticking to it.
