What's on your iPhone - great apps

I'm an iphone convert and have been having fun exploring cool apps. There are a bunch of good apps useful for camping. Other apps replace gadgets I used to tote along and save space and streamline packing. What's on your phone?

Here are some I have:

Dual Level Pro - for leveling, hanging pics etc. Has a remote function using chirps to help you level when you can't see display. Set it on the counter above fridge and adjust your jacks.
Redlaser
- this is a cool barcode scanner that reads bar codes and then searches online for a better price. Very cool for on the spot major purchases - no need to go home to comparison shop!
CarMinder - reminds you when maintenance was done and it's due.
GasCubby - Tracks MPG and Maintenance
RV Checklist - Very useful for using and creating lists. Great for makinf sure that everything is done before leaving. Developed by an Rv'er
Cleartune - the worlds best digital tuner
Tempo - metronome
Mobile RSS - reader, sync functions, etc.

The best way I've found to locate iphone apps is Appshopper
Multiple ways to search...much better than itunes. All of the above can be located there. A nice feature is that you can set up an app to "watch" for price changes and sometimes paid apps become free for a few days.

What's on your phone??

We didn't need much in the way of extra apps during our month-long trip.
Mainly we just used the good old Maps and Safari apps. Helped us reserve spots at KOAs from Chicago to California, and Walmarts for those late-night freebie parking spots.

When we pulled into the Reno Walmart at 1:30 AM only to see the "no parking or we'll tow you" signs, I jumped onto the Airforums and found the Nugget Casino listed in the "cheap or free" thread!

Great list of apps! I'm downloading the Redlaser app now. I use the standard maps app the most for locating places in unfamiliar areas. I also use Urbanspoon to get restaurant reviews and Epicurious for recipes (very handy when I'm grocery shopping!). And, I recently downloaded the Kindle app to give it a try since I a) love books; and b) live in a small home where too many books causes clutter.

I was very resistant to the iPhone. Now, I'm afraid I'm addicted to it. I know...sad.

RedLazer is probably the best iPhone sales tool there is. It amazes everyone who sees it.

Other than that, I like Weather CHannel TWC, CNN, MSNBC, and Mobile Google. If you say "ayr-forims" into the phone it will direct you right to this page.

Also, need to say that the 3 Megapixel camera takes really high quality pics and video. Wish it had a flash.

. . . just loaded RV Checklist. Pretty nifty, thanks!

I don't have an iPhone, but many of the 'apps' also work on the iTouch (I have a first gen 16GB) when you are near a WiFi site...

I've downloaded a new app called 'Campwhere' See the info here:
http://www.uscampgrounds.info/campwhere_screen_shot.jpg

I downloaded through itunes, but you can get it direct when on WiFi, of course...

This app give your all the info you can find here on the Net:All State Campgrounds, National Park and Forest, many near lakes and rivers, California Oregon Washington Wisconsin Michigan New York Florida Pennsylvania Texas Others

This is a great app and net site, as you get info on most all Public type campgrounds across the USA - GPS info, number of RV sites, phone numbers, etc., etc...

The app for your iPhone/iTouch used GPS to even Route you right to the RV park you're looking for, from your current location, miles, highways drawn on a map, etc...

I suppose the app would work better on the iPhone, as you'd be able to get connected online easier (and more often) than with the iTouch via a WiFi site..

It's a really neat app, though, check it out...

Forgive me, but I am i Illiterate. Is iTouch a separate product or just short for iPod Touch?
Thanks,
Ken

I have and use the following
MyRadar, AccuWeather, WeatherBug, (you can never have to many free weather sources) along with HandyLevel, Cheap Gas, Urbanspoon, and the free Flashlight. I also us AOPA as I am a pilot and can get the phone numbers and call the Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) of the local Airports that are equiped. I also am a Geocacher while on my travels so I use the Geocaching App, it is the only one I have paid money for.

This is great information, thanks. I have an iPhone (old 4Gb model) and always have to move music off to make room for more apps. These may be worth a few songs.

Hey Lani!
Maybe we have the same trailer. And now we both have an iPhone too. I must try the Redlaser and Epicurious...and no, it's not sad that you love your iPhone. Because I was the same way until I won mine in a drawing. Can't leave home without it! Now I want the 32Gb model...but I must wait till after we pay sales tax and put plates on our trailer. See, we JUST bought it in August and got through the season with temporary plates....

Thanks!

This is a great thread. I've always been a gadget freak, but resisted the iphone until June 19th....when the new 3GS hit the street. I got the 32Gig for myself and the older 8Gig for the wife. She was adamant about not wanting it......now, you can't pry it from her fingers. I am continuously amazed at the technology, and number of available apps. This is truly a product that has exceeded expectations....something hard to find in today's world of poor quality and false claims.

I have many of the previously mentioned apps, and use the iphone extensively when we travel......laptop is only turned on for heavier internet work.

Living in Florida, one of my essential apps is: Hurricane developed by KittyCode. It has all the tracking charts, radar, etc., along with an large amount of historical data.

Keep the list going.

Chief

"Around me" is a cool app also. Can't beat the price, free. Helps when you are looking for nearby places, stores, etc.

If you like astronomy or have any interest what so ever plus have an iPhone 3GS with the compass and GPS... downlown "Star Walk" at $5ish. As you move your iPhone around like you were using it as a camcorder on the sky... it will show you what you are looking at in a graphical way. *Very* Cool.

Afternatively, you could point it at the ground to view what China is seeing. ;^)

Great suggestions, can't wait to download some of these.
In lieu of real musical instruments to play around the campfire, try "Harmonica" (fools eight year olds, drunks, and your mom), and "More Cowbell", which also can be set to maracas, triangle, tambourine, or sleigh bells, for holiday singalongs!
