I was near Tucson on the 10th and saw $3.85 on Sandario Road just south of the Mariana HS. It was $4.15 in Phoenix that afternoon. It must cost $.30 a gallon to pipeline the gas 100 miles.

Please FedEx me some—it won't take many gallons to get free shipping.

S. CAlIF. diesel
Good day to all,
Just payed 5.15 gal. for diesel in S. Cal, we are about 30 miles south of Disney Land, I have seen the price as high as 5.20 and as low as 5.12.
We haven't seen the mid 4s for some time now, we are taking a trip up the Oregon coast in July for about 2 weeks, hope it comes down a little.
Travel less, stay longer, just get out there and enjoy this great county of ours.

We may not able to afford to leave the county soon and may not see the country.
On a more serious note, many American and Canadians have always traveled to see our countries and the best way to do so is on the ground (and off the interstates in the US). Such travels allow us to see how much the same we are, how regional differences are not so different and to meet people we may not otherwise meet. And Canadians and Americans aren't so different either. Not being able to easily travel, or having to fly (ugh), reduces the chances we will experience and appreciate our national communities.
As an example what traveling has taught me, a couple of years ago we met an Inuit (we call them Eskimos, they never use that word) elder in northern Canada and spend several hours with him. We discovered we are very much alike, something I, at least, may never have known otherwise if I hadn't made the effort to travel to the Arctic Ocean. We have corresponded since. I have found the same commonalities traveling to the Navajo res. in the Southwest or talking to Dine Indians in Yukon and Northwest Territories.
I wonder if the price of fuel will limit these experiences.

Amen to that! (With our luck it's usually the other way around...like when we were in Silver City, NM last month...they had the highest-priced gas in the state!)
I gassed up this afternoon in Tucson for $3.639...that's at Fry's (Kroger's) grocery store station using the free "Fry's Club" membership... For every accumulated $100 in grocery purchases (not hard to do these days) you get a fill up (up to 20 gallons) at .10 off per gallon...and another .05 off if you have their VISA card (seems you don't have to use their card, though, to get the discount, as long as you have signed up for their card)...so we saved .15 per gallon off the regular cost of $3.789 per gallon. Not a bad deal these days.
There's also an independent gas station near us currently priced at $3.739 (today) per gal and you get a .02 discount for cash.

Hi, latest report from the local Shell station in Lakewood, Ca. Gas has been going up, sometimes twice a day, but Diesel has been the same for several weeks. Shell has been about the lowest of the major brands in this area; And I don't count the cheap stations because I won't put their cr@p in my vehicles.
Regular.........................$4.55
Mid-Grade...............$4.65
Premium.............$4.75
Diesel...........$5.09
My brother is on vacation right now; He called me tonight and said that the gas prices are a little bit lower everywhere else than my Southern California area. [Not news] I asked him about reservations to campsites and his answer was that the campsites are mostly empty and that he hasn't seen very many RV's on the road.

The price of Diesel in the United Kingdom is stagging $11.54
(Yes, you read that right ...)
Just as well we don't tour with our '66 Overlander but keep it at one site throughout the summer !
