But, back in the "made up" fuel shortage in the early 70's, the club did a survey.

The question was, "How much would you pay for fuel, before you would quit Airstreaming?"

The answer was surprising.

That survey came up with $5.00 per gallon, and that was 35 years ago.

So, the question now becomes the same.

How much will Airstream owners today, be willing to pay for fuel, before they would quit towing?

Andy

Gosh - I wish I lived in the States... we are in the UK and we pay nearly $5 a litre for diesel and around $4 for petrol in our area! It may even go up again!!
We drive a Ram too so we need that bit more than the average car.
We love your country!

If we had prices like that our whole country would shut down and go deep into a Depression, which we might anyway. Our governments are brain dead, they should have learned from the 70's mess and had alternative fuels by now. But i guess wars and spending every penny we give them was more important. 4.29 for reg today in Napa Valley. Diesel over 5 bucks
RE here is way over priced IMO. Should start coming down soon.

We saw $1.489 per liter last night in Langley, BC. If my calculations are correct that's over $5.50 per US gal without considering any dollar differences. OK, uncle, I give, owie.

Barry, at least you can come across the border and get our cheap US gas, probably imported from Alberta. Tell PM Harper to start printing Canadian money like our government does and make your dollar cheap again so we can afford to come to Canada. About 2 years ago when we were in BC I read that Americans were not coming to Canada much anymore—with passport regs to protect us from you wild Canadian terrorists and the Canadian dollar at par, do you see us anymore, or are Canadians coming here to see the quaint Americans? Always a gunfight for excitement plus cheap gas!

Cheap US gas in Hotchkiss, Colo. on Saturday, $4.029. This is one of those rural areas where they stick it to us because there's little competition. We buy gas in other towns and take a 5 gal. can with us to get more (each 5 gal. saves about a dollar). The worst places to buy gas in Colorado are resort and ski towns like Vail, Aspen, Glenwood Springs. If you are traveling I-70, fill up in Denver or Grand Junction.

Perhaps I've gone off topic a little bit.

If gas gets too high, the AS is still a cost effective guest room!

But it won't get THAT high.

It's unbelievable how high our prices are and continue. With our dollar at or close to par it is hard for anyone from the US to justify a trip this way if costs are a consideration, as they are for a lot.

I expect we'll see our dollar back in the hole in another 12 to 24 months. In the meantime we'll continue to buy our Alberta gas in Washington State

Well, so much for my theory. Gas at that place had jump back up to $3.969 this morning. And they are normally the cheapest place around. Weird.

I have my own theories about how to solve our current "crisis" (yeah, that's the right word, isn't it?) But they all involve extreme forms of violence, so maybe I shouldn't think out loud, eh? Did I type that out loud?

Hu I'm Moving to Mississauga!!! $1.35 /Liter and rising here in Peterborough!!!

Time to hook up the Dog Sled

Life Style - all about being innovative, sacrifices and changes and all will get through just fine....

Time to find some new parks - and park the AS for a change - yep not quite the same as taking her with you - but imagine the dent in the profit cycle if the public revolted for once.

But there is the same old big problem - all or none
