Just curious, a lot of that must be state tax, and some must be for special "California" blend (just guessing) but some of the difference must be from price gouging. I would think there would be too many different suppliers to price fix out there. That's almost double the price of some places.

In San Antonio, TX I saw it today for 2.40 at Murphys, but the average around my side of town is closer to 2.50, if not more.

Diesel is running about 5 cents/gallon less than regular in NW Arkansas.

Might I suggest using the "Gas Buddy" app on your smart phone. One can select Diesel, Regular, and Premium cost by selecting "Where I am Now" or type in a city of choice.

Bob, you hit the nail on the head. I always go to name brand stations if at all possible. You'd be Goofy to go to Mickey Mouse stations for Minnie savings.

$2.46 for diesel in St. Petersburg, FL; as an aside, I recently returned form a trip up north and noticed that for the first time in forever, FL diesel prices are actually lower than in Georgia - go figure.

I'm sitting at a guard station for Enbridge oil coming through our wetlands in Minnesota to get to Duluth Minnesota headed out of state. I'm 2 blocks from a gas station selling gas at $2.79 regular unleaded. What's wrong with this picture.

Gas continues going up in Grand Jct.—$2.82 at some stations. Wholesale gas is down about 25¢ in the past few weeks, but up 20¢ here. Often gas is less here than a lot of the US, but a couple of times a year it skyrockets like this. Like everywhere, the highest prices are at the interstate exits, but tourists aren't going to have it easy finding the cheap stations.

Last time I had bad gas was in 1969 going from Wilkes-Barré, Pa., to Niagara Falls, NY—since there were few off brand stations then, I probably got it at a name brand. I think I had an Amoco card because they had the best premium for my sports car though I was driving a 2 cycle Saab on that trip. I've been using cheap gas as soon as it was available in most places and never had a problem since.

I hope it drops by the end of August. I'll be in Leadville for a week with the AS. Be nice if we could see cheap(er) gas for a week.

Got gas in Troy Missouri yesterday. $2.40.

Gettin', buy gas in Denver before you go to Leadville. Gas is always much higher in the mountains. Last time I was in Leadville the cheapest gas was at a station on the east side of the main drag on the south end of town, but that was about 10 years ago. Also fill your lungs with air in Denver since Leadville is twice as high as the Mile High City.

Gas in Grand Jct. has dropped a few cents in the past few days, but it still $1 higher than wholesale gas on the commodity market. Usually retail is 50-70¢ higher than wholesale except in the mountains.
