I filled up at Rapid Roberts last night, $1.92.
My grandson told me that the mideast oil producers are dropping the price to make fracking too expensive. He's 17 and seems to know about this stuff.

And I think its going to stay down because the guys that were advertising to buy gold are now advertising on the radio to buy stakes in oil wells if you have at least 40k to invest.

Hi, a few days ago I paid $2.59 for Premium for my Lincoln. One of these days I will need gas for my new F-150; Still burning the original tank and a lot of miles left. This will be my first tank of Regular in years. All of my other vehicles have to have Premium.

I suppose "corn gas" is E85. It costs more than regular unleaded here—30 or 40¢, I wasn't paying that much attention. That's real expensive since E85 has lower BTU's than regular gas so your gas mileage will be less no matter what you pay. I also noticed diesel was a buck more than gas. Anyway I paid $1.96 a couple of days ago for good ole E10, a/k/a reg. unleaded gas.
If the goal of the Saudis is to undercut fracked oil costs, they already have undercut corn fuel. Oil prices have always been volatile and the Saudis got hit hard the last time this happened—they lost a lot of market share and they don't want that to happen again. I suspect they are also trying to hurt Iran by keeping them from increasing market share. This is typical of an unregulated "free" market—wild swings in prices, attempts to crush others, selling below cost to get more market share (only the guys with the most money can afford that and the little guys get bankrupted). This is capitalism with countries rather than corporations doing the damage, but it works the same.

A gallon of E85 takes nearly a gas-gallon-equivalent of fuel to make - not to mention the cost of the corn and production. Government subsides bring the price down to around $3 but it is all artificial - the free market price would probably be closer to $6 or $7. (not to mention, a waste of perfectly good corn liquor )

US refinery capacity for diesel is already running at max so this will take a while to come down.

I have a very uneasy feeling about all this. The Saudis have been banking hundreds of billions over the past 7 years due to inflated gas prices. They can weather this, but exactly what will we owe them in the end?
This is an interesting article on the subject.....
Did The Saudis And The US Collude In Dropping Oil Prices?

For those interested, the following is the US conversion for the data in the above post by Gocart in Forlì, Italy:
• Unleaded: 1,45Euro/Litre = $6.70 USD/gallon
• Diesel: 1,35Euro/litre = $6.25 USD/gallon
• LPG (propane): 0,63Euro /Litre = $2.38 USD/gallon
• 100 liter fuel tank capacity = 26.4 gallons
Not absolutely sure of colloquial translation of "Ciao Cesare, Buon Natale", but I think it means "Hello Christ Child; Merry Christmas". (Gocart, please correct my interpretation, if incorrect.)
