Westport CA Union Landing State Beach

We drove up expecting to spend a few days at MacKerricher park N of Ft Bragg. When we got there, it was mostly flooded out, and the ranger suggested we drive on up the coast a few miles and stay in the state park N of Westport. Wow, what a find! How many places are there where you can get a view like this out of your front window?



Or catch the sunset through your bathroom window?



This is an overview of the small park, half of the spaces empty during the time we were there.



Sometimes the best things happen when your destination is flooded out!

We're headed up that way in a week or two but had no thoughts on where to stay. Thanks for sharing this. We'll check it out!

There are two choices in Westport. The first RV park you come to is a full hookup private park, with its own private beach. No direct ocean views from the trailer spots, but very nice, clean park. This would be a better option with kids, as the cliffs at the state park might be worrisome. Up the road a mile or two is the state park I show in the pictures. No hookups but great views. Both are very dog friendly, as are all the places I have visited in Northern CA. Mendocino is so dog friendly that I had to stop the treats that the store owners were handing out before she got too many.
