Welcome to the Breakfast Show.......

Looks just like mine, except I don’t have a rear storage compartment. Another of those little things that could be fixed by design, and have not.

Thanks Rich and Dan. I'm going to print out your replies/photo, then see what I can find.

Hope it doesn't make me throw-up my Froot Loops.

I am fond of my Breakfast Show visitors, but I need some time out from this place. My only participation for now will be in regards to AS mechanical matters.

Take care all. Happy and safe Airstreaming.

p.s. Not your fault, Msmoto. You were genuinely concerned about any possible water intrusion with my beloved FaN. I am still looking into it.
It would appear some of the mods have a problem with my idea of humour on some other threads. There's so much agony in the world - I just like to try to make people laugh.

The solution is to make sure that the joint between the bumper trunk cover and the shell is caulked to keep out the water. I caulked mine using Trempro 635- nice and sticky stuff. Here is a photo of the gray looking caulking on my 66 Tradewind.

Dan, thanks for the photo. I will caulk this weekend.

Yes, a good sense of humor may not be appreciated all around, and recently it seems as if folks have been wearing new glasses [ . . . if this is cryptic enough to remain here for reading . . . ]

You have a sharp and rather unusual sense of humor, FaN, but it’s part of your charm.

Dear FaN,

Your creativity is exactly why this thread is my favorite and why I am happy to be your on-line friend. Forget the haters and keep up the good work. I have also been a source of humor for my friends, and others. Makes me happy to see others happy.

Warmest regards,

John S.

Humor and Airstream

Gosh, if one owns any RV, no sense of humor probably means a miserable life... While there is nothing funny about finding out we have a water leak from the manufacturer's possible lack of detail in constructing our trailers, a little humor sure beats being all unhappy and depressed over it.

As this is the Breakfast Show.... and it is early in the morning on the right coast of the US, I have found acceptance is the answer to virtually all of my problems today. This places me on the solution side of the issue, which results in a lot less resentment toward people or companies over which I have no control.

I guess what I am saying is... if it leaks, we need to fix it, not struggle with reality.

Well said . . . Acceptance!

Reminds of a nice tale from Zen Flesh, Zen Bones, by Paul Reps. (C)

__________________________________________________ ________________________
3. Is That So?

The Zen master Hakuin was praised by his neighbors as one living a pure life.

A beautiful Japanese girl whose parents owned a food store lived near him. Suddenly, without any warning her parents discovered she was with child.

This made her parents angry. She would not confess who the man was, but after much harassment at last named Hakuin. In great anger the parents went to the master. 'Is that so?' was all he would say.

After the child was born it was brought to Hakuin. By this time he had lost his reputation, which did not trouble him, but he took very good care of the child. He obtained milk from his neighbors and everything else the little one needed.

A year later the girl-mother could stand it no longer. She told her parents the truth - that the real father of the child was a young man who worked in the fish market.

The mother and father of the girl at once went to Hakuin to ask his forgiveness, to apologize at length, and to get the child back again.

Hakuin was willing. In yielding the child, all he said was, 'Is that so?'

A couple of years ago several of us stopped posting for similar reasons. I stopped following mostly any threads as well, including this one. By the time I came back I was so far behind I didn't look here for quite a while. Sorry to see the same problems hit here too.

Is that so?

It takes two to tango.... if one simply wants to avoid conflict, maintain serenity, one of the best responses is... "Is that so" Avoids engagement in a lot of things which are really not part of our business.

Back to cause more trouble......I have time again.

It's a long story, but was working on a vintage-aviation event in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Man on the Moon. Unfortunately, we crashed a few airplanes in the process (no fatalities, but a lot of bruised egos) and our public performance licence is under scrutiny. We decided to cancel the performance.

Does anyone know of any Airstream/Apollo 11 related events? It's an interesting meld. Vintage airplanes (or trailers) with the space programme.

Welcome back, but the reason is not so good. Glad to hear bruised egos were the worst of it, though some real money was also involved I suspect.

I have at times disappeared from the Forum and never could catch on Maggie's posts again, so I hope Maggie is doing well.

I may be getting a column about senior issues in the local daily paper and that would diminish my time here I guess. Life is full of changes, surprises and an occasional wonder.

Hey Gene! You are a fabulous writer. Your column will be a real hit. I hope you will publish some of it here (if it's all right with your editor).

I still write/edit the vintage aviation rag. I may publish a few excerpts here, if people are interested.

Yes, the result of those unfortunate crashes involves a lot of money (vintage airplanes are not cheap to resurrect) along with some liability issues. Hopefully both will be resolved so we can get back to doing what we love --
orchestrating that history in the skies again -- to the delight of many.

Anyway, so good to hear from you. All the best with your next writing adventure.
