Water heater wont stay on

Hey gang, I have an Atwood g6a-8e (propane only). It starts strong for a few seconds then stops. Any ideas on what might be the problem?
I cleaned all the contacts.

Could be dirt, spiders or something blocking the gas or a bad or poorly adjusted thermocouple.

"starts strong" may be open to interpretation, but if you have an audible ignition and the flame is a reasonable color, you may either have a poorly-adjusted or failed flame sensor (so it shuts down thinking the gas didn't light.) As mentioned above, the board and gas pressure are also potential culprits. Usually when the exhaust has spiders or other blockage you get lots of soot and it never sounds "right" if it lights at all, but making sure the tube is clear is good maintenance anyway.

Could this be a flow issue? Water heater senses flow but then quits as the flow sensor stops sending a signal?
We had problems with our shower not getting hot water. I would have to turn on the sink to get the hot water flowing and then the shower. Finally figured out that we almost have to smack the hot water valve into the hot position and then we get sustained hot water flow.

The water heater mentioned by the OP is a tank-type, not dependent on water flow for running the burner.
