Thanks! We just took her out for the day and then came home. We’re going back out for an overnighter today. Heading back to the Gorge and staying overnight in Cascade Locks. There’s a small campground right on the river there by a bridge called Bridge of the God. It’s one of our favorite spots.

We tent camped there a couple of weeks back. Here’s the view from our tent......

Looks nice! Have you ever been to the KOA a little further east?

Thanks,

Peter

Yep, that hotel is in this little town. This location is about 30mins from our home so we come here a lot. We've been to the KOA as well. It's about 5mins further than that Cascade Locks Marine Park CG that we usually stay at. Right now, being "off season" the sites here are only $20 per day. It's a BEAUTIFUL location.

Probably a bit breezy at Cascade Locks. Looks like your pup is catching the wind with his ears. Definitely nuking wind this morning at Rooster Rock so be careful if you are driving past there.

All the best,
Hein

P.S. here's a video of the river on a strong east wind day:

I live on the North side of a mountain on the Washington side, about 20 miles away from Cascade Locks; I drive over the Bridge of the Gods every morning on my way to work in Hood River.

I can imagine it might be pretty bouncy down there today in the Port's campground. At home we have steady-state winds of 8-15 knots, gusting up to 30 and more.

But... since you're there, how are the facilities? Do you have much shelter from the winds, or are you pretty much 'out in it'?

This is one of the places we're looking forward to going with our new Airstream, especially since it will go underneath the railroad bridge.

Thanks Hein, yeah, the water was real choppy this morning and the winds were screaming across Thunder Island last night and today. Fortunately, we didn't feel much movement in the AS but I sure did on I-84 on the way back home. There were lots of cross-winds! Appreciate the heads up!

So, we camp here at least a half-dozen times a year (RV and tent). We REALLY enjoy this park. It's small, beautiful and convenient. Not to mention the great brewery that's right there and the pizza place in town. Right now, since it's "off season" all the water is shut off to the sites but the power is always on. $20 per night now through May for sites with power, $15 for the dry sites. The wind was steady all night and today with gusts coming in at 40mph. We felt a little movement but it really wasn't too bad. Made for a chilly walk when the pup need to go potty though!

The rail bridge is 12" high so you've got a lot of clearance with the AS. Thankfully, that drive under keeps the big RV's away so the views of the river remain wide open from each camp site.

It really is a wonderful little park. I hope you see you there some time! Feel free to PM me and maybe we can meet up there one weekend.

A view this morning from our dealer’s lot. We took delivery yesterday and spent the night during a snowstorm.

Sorry, our Airstream was rightside up for the photo, the attachment appears to have mucked with its rotation.

You should have embellished the story such that the winds blew your trailer on its side overnight! Congrats and happy camping!!
