Mid-Missouri Scenic View North of Rolla
Scenic View rest area along Hwy 63 in Mid-Missouri while returning from a kayak trip on the Big Piney River. We've driven past this Rest Area at least 100 times and never stopped but today we decided to relax and enjoy the view.

Bayshore Campground in Rock Hall, MD on the Chesapeake Bay! Beautiful location and not a soul around!

Right now, our view is a parking lot full of empty boat trailers. I know we arrived before the 3 pm check in time, but the site is empty. I've never before had a campground be so strict about early check in. The worst I've heard until now was one campground that actually charged people for arriving early. (Lots of campgrounds have these policies, but those are the only two times I've heard of it being enforced.)
The workers weren't exactly friendly about it, either.
On the other hand it's a really nice state park.

The only time I ever had to take the trailer to the boat ramp is when I got there early ad the other people hadn't left yet. We dropped the trailer and went to town for lunch. When we got back, the other people were gone.
I have gotten a note from the ranger on my site number post telling me I was there past checkout and should move my trailer to the parking lot or pay another night-

Smallwood State Park in Maryland. But the early arrival incident won't keep us from coming back. It's a great little park right on the Potomac River. We'll just be more careful about the check in time for the Maryland state parks.
For us, the delay was really only a problem because we have our cats with us, and the temperatures were in the high 80s Friday. But we opened windows and turned on fans, so we're all fine, and we had a great weekend.

Chances are you won't encounter that incident at other state parks. You just ran into an over-zealous employee. Many parks have an employee like that. Often, those over eager employees relax or mellow out in 2-3 years, but others are always very strict enforcers of the rule book.
