Valley of fire NV - where to stay

We're planning to spend Xmas at valley of fire, NV. Never been there, what's the best place to camp? No hookups or amenities necessary, just quiet and views... It seems most stay in the campgrounds, I haven't found much exciting sounding about boondocking.

Thumbs up Camping in Valley of Fire

Arch Rock happens to be the most out of the way campground with the best views, Atlatl campground sites are more open and closer together, but still nice with views of the surrounding hills. No boondocking is allowed in the park. We stayed just a while ago and had the place to ourselves for almost a week. Nothing but the chuckawallas to keep us company, we loved it

I often read thread titles and have an answer before I know any more info;
Valley of fire NV - where to stay... where there is no fire actively burning
I know, not the answer you were looking for.

We stayed at the Valley of Fires Recreation Area. Water and electrical hook-ups on some sites. Spectacular views at every site, especially sunsets. Wonderful walks through the lava field. An interesting visitors center with a great story-teller of 90-plus years in residence. We found out there how well Airstreams ride out high winds compared to motorhomes and 5th-wheels. We didn't know until we'd been there awhile that you can walk on the lava flows, which is amazing. I didn't find the Billy the Kid attractions in Lincoln to be that compelling. But Valley of Fires is a wonderful, peaceful place.

I visited Valley of Fire two weeks ago. We drove through the RV campground. Very nice place!

Good hiking all around!

Plus, the camp host stays in a 1975 Sovereign! That's a good omen.

Thanks for the responses, humorous ones included. I'll post a follow-up if we indeed make it there.

VOF is a wonderful place. I've stayed in Atlatl CG twice. About half the sites there have no power or water; there is a newer group of sites that do have power and water. Invest time in hiking in either east or west direction from the road running north from the visitor's center to the White Domes area, especially at sunrise and sunset. The park is named for the flaming red color taken on by the rocks at these times.
