I was in the Air Force 1960 to 1964. Station at Clinton Sherman AFB OK in the second Air Force 4123th heavy bombardment. B52 E model. Flew in Operation Crome Dome. Just think the last B-52 was made in 1964 it now 2021 that’s almost 57 years of flying the grandkids if the first guys are now working and flying them. [ATTACH]

Over Hampton Beach, New Hampshire

Finishing up the yard work today, spotted this unmistakable Blue and White Aluminum beauty passing overhead. Grabbed my old Canon 50D with the 100-400 zoom and I was able to fire off the shutter a couple of times before she went out of sight.

My caption - 3 Aug 2021 @ 1214pm Hampton, New Hampshire - USAF 82-8000 VC-25A in the pattern during training around Pease AFB New Hampshire. Here the Boeing 747-200 was spotted heading southeast over Hampton Beach. It was prepping to turn left to intercept the localizer for runway 34 at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease. When the President is on board it's known as Air Force One.

The demonstration team performed precision aerial maneuvers to demonstrate the unique capabilities of the fifth-generation fighter aircraft. (Courtesy photo)

I'm glad to see the AirShow Circuit is alive.

Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th of July

It's been about a year since my last posting on this thread. I thought it was a good time with Independence Day right around the corner to remember and honor our Men and Women serving all around the world in support of our freedoms.

Have a great holiday where ever you may be and if your so inclined raise your glass and give a nod of thanks to those folks out there in the Military and Public Safety working to keep us safe.

Happy Birthday America!

Here are a couple of B1 Lancers coming up for a drink while on a mission in the Pacific Ocean. It's not clear because of sizing for the forum, but the crew is flying Old Glory proudly across the flight deck windscreen as they pull up for refueling on their tanker.

Cold War Games...

Soviet Bear bomber/surveillance aircraft being escorted by a US Navy F-14 Tomcat. Photo taken by me in ~1985 from the deck of a USN destroyer in the Western Pacific Ocean.

Sometimes they would fly low enough that we could exchange 'hand guestures' with the crew.

Great photo! I was in Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Pease AFB in NH. My whole career was the "Cold War"...76-89. Everything was always on "Alert" from my time in the UK to back here in the States. All in support of the F-111 and KC-135...all nuke based missions.

It's all gone now...bases were decommissioned and the 111's were mothballed. My old Pease unit (509th BMW) moved on to supporting the B2...even I moved on to other things.

Thanks for posting that!

On this Veterans Day week, a deeply felt thanks to all our veterans for their time in defense of our Republic.

And also a moment of sorrow and grief in tribute to those that lost their lives in Texas this week in a deeply tragic airshow accident involving two genuine WWII warbirds. Go west.
Let's fly together, ride the winds
Soaring the clouds with all our friends
Out of sorrow's reach, there we'll mend
High enough, the sunset never ends
High enough, the sunset never ends
High enough, the sunset never ends

I second those thoughts. A heartfelt salute to all those who served, and heartfelt condolences to those who died in that horrific mid air in Texas.

Life is very hard sometimes.

High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds,—and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air ....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor ever eagle flew—
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Enjoyable thread

Always good to hear from others who served, especially in aviation side of the services. S3A NFO here in 1980s. Sharing a view from inside during a formation flight.
New AS owner here. Best to all.

Almost looks like a B-57 strapped to the flight leads wing.

AMH2 69 thru 73'...VF24 "flight deck" Troubleshooter...in country 5 different times off the USS Hancock...here are a couple pics...one as we entered the pattern for landing on Hancock coming back from Da Nang and one from Bien Hoa sending an F8 back to the ship. Thats me looking up the tailpipe of an F8 before launch confirming the "eyelits" were open with the afterburner lit! Fun times with the F8 Crusader...last of the "Gunfighters"; replaced by the F14's in 74'. Thanks for your service!
