We had just about the worst combination of events last week when we were down there. It was very hot & very humid. We were at Mid Bay shores Campground next to the Mid Bay Toll Bridge. We figured at least we'd have a nice breeze off the gulf as we were only a few feet from the water. Air was as still as could be most of the time, except when the storms rolled in. Afternoons were storms every day, and some big, long lived ones at that. The hurricane was getting cranked up, on top of the normal afternoon weather.
We camp in that area (usually) at least once a year, it's just that we hadn't been camping in the hot summer months in a long time. We'll be sticking to the cooler months from now on.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place to visit, especially since we have family in the area....and the Airstream performed well. Certainly not discouraging anybody from going there. Just be prepared for some
real summer if you go in July.
