Traverse City for Fourth of July

We want to experience the Fourth of July celebration in Traverse City as well as experience the Cherry Festival.
Does anyone have any suggestions to stay and see the fireworks. We prefer State parks, but if we stay a week, we would need more W/E/S and showers.

Comin' to my town!

Michigan State Parks don't have full hooks, but they do have W/E and dump stations.

Traverse City State Park is kind of urban (at least for northern Michigan) but would keep you close to the activities.

My suggestion if you need full hookups is Holiday RV Park just outside of Traverse City. It's a former AS Park and very well run and only about 15 minutes from town. Best spots are in the original loops.

Message me if you want some specific event or parking ideas. You'll love TC!

Fourth of July In Traverse City

Thank you for your suggestion on parks, both the state park and Holiday Park are already booked. I found a spot at Interlochen SP which is 15 min. away. Can you tell me anything about the ferry from I believe Ludinton to Wisconsin? Can we ferry our AS?

You'll like Interlochen State Park. If you're into music, you will be camping next to the famous Interlochen Arts Academy which puts on fantastic concerts all summer. In April they publish the list of who's coming in the summer. Check out National Music Festival on the web.

I have taken that ferry many times but never with the trailer. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that?

We stayed at the Fair Grounds in Traverse city. W/E with a dump and acceptable facilities for shower etc; good price! They may be booked for the celebration however

Good to know about Interlochen SP. We cant decide if driving the UP with our AS over to Wisconsin is something NOT to be missed. Or if we drive around the top part of Michigan including staying at several state parks and then taking the ferry across to Wisconsin would be better. Your thoughts?

I would suggest the Northern Route. Skip the Ferry unless it is on your bucket list. There are so many GREAT State Parks in the MI UP and Northern WI. It is worth a slow commute around the top of lake Michigan.

Thank You

I appreciate your advice. We are doing ferries on the outer banks of NC, so we will have had our fill. UP here we come.
