Traveling with Dogs (game changer)

I switched out my Dometic thermostat with a MicroAir EasyTouch_RV which is plug&play.
With WiFi, you can keep an eye on the inside temp when you can’t take Fido along. Great for a night out or non-dog friendly hikes. It will send messages when your temp hits pre-defined temps. You can then control any functions including choosing which zone right from your phone.

Hi,

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on one, but came across a review that said the interface was sluggish and the app was buggy. Any issues so far?

No, I use an iPhone which seems to work well with the unit. Only gripe is the pushable icons on the unit need to be bigger, especially the zones in the lower right corner (ridiculously small). I manage most of my changes on my phone, larger icons for my fat fingers. Buy it on Amazon, send it back if you don’t like it.

I installed one in my 23FB. We really liked it, except for one thing. In my 23FB, the thermostat was mounted on the wall in the bedroom. Even with the display brightness at the lowest level, the thing was bright. Very bright. It was annoying at night.

I keep the thermostat on nighttime mode. The display blacks out after a few minutes. To get it back tap the screen once.

On my device there's just two modes, daytime and nighttime. You must choose one or the other modes. Daytime mode keeps the display lit all the time. Nighttime mode is the opposite.

It would be nice if the thermostat could automatically shift modes back and forth in the morning and evening, but it doesn't have that feature.

To configure modes you have to use the wall unit, look under settings.

I believe you can put it on night mode and the screen turns off after 5 minutes and will turn back on with next touch.

I travel with my dogs along with STARLINK to make sure I have internet with my MicroAir. There is one other device I suggest, I highly suggest, you get this too as it will alert you if your rig loses power. But it gives you more benefits

1. It's something you can activate on and off remotely, so activate only when needed

2. it has a built in GPS, as an added security

3. it's self powered, so no need to have it plugged in, but if you have it plugged like I do to a shore power outlet, it will notify you if it goes on battery which means you lost shore power.

I found Waggle's Pet Monitor GPS/Lite easy to use & implement in my RV/Car/Home for monitoring my dog's temperature while I am away. It is worth investing in it to keep your pet's environment safe. Use my referral link to get a discount now!

Does one need the Microair Easy Start installed in order for the thermostat to work?

Nope, two completely separate products

You can get directly from MicroAir, or on Amazon. The second link is MicroAir which will define which model number you need.

I recommend buying the bezel/trim kit from Micro-Air. It covers the holes from the OE Dometic thermostat.

I have this tstat. Used the app to remotely monitor trailer temperature this week and turn on the furnace when we had a couple of nights with late April freezing temps (trailer had been dewinteriezed and used already this season) to avoid bursting pipes. Very convenient. Is this the best tstat or app UI you’ll have seen? No. But it works great and there are to my knowledge no other RV tstat like it. Their customer care is also amazing. Had a defective unit after a few months. Shipped out a new one in a couple of days, no questions asked.

Just make sure they send you the thermostat that has the correct slots to accept the tabs on the bezel. I ordered both and had to exchange the thermostat for the correct unit.

I swapped the Dometic for the Micro-Air last night in our '23 23FBT for the sole purpose of keeping our dog comfy / safe as we hike or maybe take a short trip into town. The entire process took just under 10 minutes, including syncing with bluetooth and adding to our camper WiFi system.
