Traveling New England

I need to get from St Johnsbury VT to Rangely ME. Which is the best way for an RV and toad - Rte 2 through New Hampshire and up 17 in Maine, Rte 2 into New Hampshire and up 16, or the way Mapquest is telling me which is 114 to 105 to 3 to 26 to 16? Has anyone traveled any of these routes? The less elevation the better! Thanks for your help.

I think I would go 2 to 16. Both of these roads are beautiful, and in pretty good shape. Not sure I can help on the elevation as I haven't driven that exact route. I know Rt 2 is not bad. Some parts of 16 are hilly...

VT to ME

The roads should be fine. You will have to take your time though because there will be a lot of up, down and around. That's just the nature of travel in VT, NH, and ME. Especially the area you plan to traverse.

route2 to 110 then 110A to 16 would be the best because you will be north of the White mountainsand going through Whitemountain Natl forest not as hilly asgoing south on rt 2...
