Transporting an Electric bike
I am wondering how other transport their Electric bike? I no longer have a bike rack as it broke (my fault). As they are heavy do you carry them in the AS and if so how. Thank you

This topic will become more important as more folks get e-bikes.
Obviously, it impacts what cover, if any, your truck has, are the batteries removable, and can you lift an e-bike into position.
One YouTube family stopped carrying any bikes, because of the risk/reward.
Here's one solution by LoLoHo, and they were still "iffy" on its success.

We have two foldable ebikes that we bring with us while traveling with the AS. They both fit in the back seat of the truck with the seats folded up. I've gotten so that I can put them in and take them out pretty quickly, and I've learned how to pack things like water jugs around them so that they don't move around. I can also fit our screen tent in the back seat on top of the bikes.

Our trek e bikes have removable batteries and weigh 39 pounds without the removable items. Same as our old mountain bikes. They go up on the arvika tongue rack, just like before.

I have a folding Evelo eBike that fits under the hard tonneau cover on my F-150’s truck bed. It weighs 37 pounds and I store it so it’s closest to the tailgate where I slide it in and out on a blanket for use. 40-mile range. I originally wanted the version that had longer range but it weighed 56 lbs which I decided was too heavy.

Our solution. Board set-up is similar to what van people use for their bikes. Trailer is still usable except for table and seating.

Folding eBikes
We carry two folding Lectric XP 20”x4” tired eBikes in the back of the PU. They just fit under the folding hard cover. I’m a former bike shop owner, and these bikes are awesome and VERY affordable.

 we have 2 Specialized ebikes that weigh ~53 lbs w/ battery. I carry them on a yakama rail that is attached to my retrax tonneau cover. The bikes are in a inno tire hold rack. I have hauled them a couple thousand miles with this set up, and so far all is well. I use a tie down strap that goes from rail to rail over and around each bike handle stem just for my own peace of mind. It does decrease the side to side wobble as you ar going down the road, turns etc. fortunate my F350 has a tailgate step that makes it easier to haul the bike up onto the tailgate and then wrestle them int the bike racks. This does require some agility and upper body strength. Fortunately, I currently am able to do that with no assistance. Hopefully, in the next few years the ebikes will be lighter with improved technology. Prior to the set up on the truck we carried them in our 30 Classic and leaned them against the couch with foam padding and wrapped in a heavy blanket. Wasn’t ideal. Took up a lot of space and concern over the wear and tear on the inside of the RV.
Love the ebike experience, for the 1st time ever my wife can ride and keep up with me. 500 miles since middle of June.....

This is working so far with no issues. 2500 miles so far, not a problem. Of course, lifting the 50lb bikes up there is a work out, but you can develop technique and strength.
Yakima base with Yakima High Road bike racks. No front wheel removal required.

with the batteries removed, we use the FIAMMA rack on the rear.
very stable and no issues

What is the total weight added? The Fiamma racks are Airstream-approved for only about 70 pounds as I recall.

I’m still on a Specialized mountain bike, but we bought my lovely bride a Specialized ebike. They both ride on the Kuat hitch mount bike carrier. I have a Curt receiver hitch mounted where the AS skid guards are normally located under the rear bumper. It was mounted by the AS dealer in Chicago to our 25FB. Just got back from WY and MT. 3,000+ miles, and some pretty rough roads. They bounce back there. I see it on the rear camera, and they get dusty on the gravel roads, but did fine.
The rear rack has dragged twice. Not bad, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get a 3” lift. I was going to do it anyway because we like out of the way campsites.

I own a Lectric XP in addition to a number of other bikes (hybrid, mountain, road). Lectric is a good bargain for the money. I bought it specifically for camping. It is and great utility bike for that purpose but the chainset is noisy, and the crankset is mounted too high (or at least the crank arms are too short). I can manage it's weight but at 64# with the battery think it would be too heavy for some.

Trek e-bikes
We have 2 Trek Verv+ ebikes. There is apparently no bumper on the back of the 2021 Bambi (waiting for us in MO), so we're considering putting them on the front of my Hyundai V6 Santa Fe and covering them for protection. What are others' thoughts on this, please???

We have a 2016 Classic and carry our 2 Specialized ebikes inside. Works great and very stable. We have a double bike stand at one end and 2 singles at the other end. All is setting on a rubber mat.

I made this Aluminum rack and mounted a front hitch on the truck...it has worked great I usually remove the seat...battery and protect the controls if we are traveling any distance. It also has a shakle lock that secures the front wheel to the rack and the bike cross bar is also locked and secured to the rake so it is virtually impossible to remove without a cuttiing wheel. I have about 6-7000mi on it so far...no issues.

You'll need to check with your manufacturer of the ebike. My XP is not waterproof so I would not mount it outdoors without a covering. Also, my manufacturer recommends removal of the battery.
