It's actually been for sale for a couple of years...I've seen it on ebay before. So far, no deal. Sure would be fun to have though, too bad it's in the middle of the desert off the beaten path ~

the dell

hi- was in the area so my friend with the '71 Avion and I went down to Bisbee to see the famous Shady Dell Resort- glad we did! They indeed have a nice, and growing, collection of vintage trailers- there are several out back awaiting restoration. Both the manager, and owner/chef at Dot's Diner, are very interesting and friendly, fitting in well with the somewhat eccentric personality of this desert town. The place is also still for sale, I guess the ebay auction didn't work out. I was told there are roughly 2 acres, maybe 10 vintage trailers (and a boat!) for nightly rental, and roughly a dozen RV spaces for rent, most of them already taken long-term. I was told the owners were hoping to get something in the high $600k range, but would likely take considerably less for a secure offer. Not sure why they want to divest themselves of this unique property. The only drawback I see to the package is location- It's not that it's in the middle of nowhere, but that it sits next to a copper mine. It is ugly, possibly toxic, and not something I would want as the neighbor for a vintage trailer park, with guests from all over the world. This would be a truly striking real estate opportunity, and visionary trailer park, were it not for this proximity. But, if you don't look out towards the mine tailings across the highway, it is a lovely, funky, step back in time, and I think their rates are very reasonable compared with ordinary motels. Check it out for yourself when you're in extreme southern Arizona!

I was there last week. Cool the wrong place.

It would be nice to relocate the trailers to a different location somewhere in the Arizona Sonoran desert (not by a copper mine).
Perhaps along Route 66 (I40) or just closer to Tucson.

Nice trailers, nice folks.
