If I'm going someplace that doesn't have much natural shade, I'll bring along a Coleman 10×10 canopy. I have screen walls that attach on all four sides if flying insects are a problem, and "sun walls" for two sides so that I can use them as a windbreak or to provide shade in late afternoon.
It's a pain to set up and take down by myself, and much easier with two people. Bought the whole kit and caboodle (

) at my local Walmart.
