Taos, NM to Durango, CO
As a part of our first trip out West, we are going from Taos, NM to Durango, CO. RV Trip Wizard's route has us going 285 to 160 to Durango. We also see 64 through Pagosa Springs as an alternative. Any recommendations would be most welcome! Thanks!

Not sure if this is a weather related question, but I drove from Durango to Taos via the 64/84 in September last year with my 27F Globetrotter.
Not sure if you read my earlier posts as I did a year long Roadtrip through the US, but let me tell you when people ask me which was one of my highlights it was driving through the area between Chromo and Pagosa Springs. If you manage to drive through that region with a low sun on the horizon it will make it so worthwhile.
Attaching a photo.

I agree with 64 to 84 to 160. It's the most direct; 285 would take you a good bit out of the way. A stop at the hot springs in Pagosa Springs would definitely be worthwhile!

We were recently camped in Bayfield visiting our son and family in Durango. We left there for Taos and went through Pagosa Springs on 160 then 84 south to 64 to Taos. Very scenic drive.

What time of year are you making the trip? That is a deciding factor. We live in Bayfield, CO and have been driving between here and Taos and Santa Fe for many years. We go through Pagosa and it's a beautiful scenic route. It passes through Chama NM and there's nice camping there as well.
BUT weather needs to be monitored closely almost anytime of year. It can be very snowy and 64 is often closed is bad weather.
Enjoy the trip!

We camped at Vallecito Campground, near Durango last summer. Very scenic near the river and off grid with water available. There are several sites with electricity, 27 28, 29, 30. Blue Spruce Campground is just down the road and offers full hookups for a night or two. We came up from Albuquerque via 550 which is fast but not from Taos. Vallecito is really nice. Have fun.

Durango to Taos
YES! 160, 84, 64. Do check the weather and road conditions even in May. Brazos summit is over 10,000 feet in elevation! Totally doable.

Don’t let the URL scare you, I have driven it when I was driving a 45 foot tour bus. The French and German tourists loved it, you will too.

If you like soaking, Strongly suggest a stop in Pagosa Hot Springs. Nice RV parks in area. Same for Durango, at Durango Hot Springs, formally Kimble Hot Springs; small RV next door. I drove from Durango to Dallas on Monday 2/14 and clear all the way

We loved Pagosa Springs! We stayed at Pagosa Springs Riverside Campground. Just out of town. Try to get a site on the river.
