Summer trip, 2015

Planning a summer trip... May get to do it, too..

The goal is 'take a road trip'.. may bring along some grand critters.

Have family near Edmond, OK.. saw there was a campground named Acadia run by the City of Edmond.

Anyone camped there? Info to share?

xxxxxxxxxxxx other basic details forming up... xxxxxx

Also, hope to visit SoldierMedic... and his family... maybe others along the way...

Plan to 'swing' by/near Tuscaloosa, AL to visit aging family.

Since we live in Central Texas, the 'first direction' has implications... but am flexible..

Anyone know of music festivals around / near either of those places this summer?? might be good places / timing to add them in or plan around them...

Not quite to route, but the Wichita Mountains near Altus gives you a nice direction out of Texas on US281 and then suggests several alternatives towards Edmond. Have been running this way to Elk City quite a few times this past year. The late nineteenth century of Quanah Parker, the giant ranches still extant in that part of Texas, and the early 20th with Teddy Roosevelt and the last wolf hunt in Oklahoma are all to this region.

As you know, Texas has lost quite a lot it's magic since 1980. Not so out here and in the off Interstate routes through Oklahoma.

I also am always impressed by Lake's Eufala and Tenkiller west of Tulsa. again, several routes suggest themselves. Broken Bow, another

The backwoods of eastern OK into AR near Mena or Dequeen also have their own magic. Slow roads in this terrain.

US82 a great E-W route versus the Interstates.

Highway 65 south of Springfield MO is a nice ride down into Arkansas, So is highway 71 south of Joplin.

BIG HINT: DON'T TAKE YOUR TRAILER ON HIGHWAY 7 South of Eureka Springs! If you are on a motorcycle or in a sports car you will love highway 7, not so much so pulling a big Airstream! Don't even bother to ask how I know!@ LOL

We are planning on heading south to ARLATEX later this Spring also. Too dang cold up here in SGF MO
