Suggestions for Western Trip 2021

We just completed our first long trip (well, long for us): a two week tour of Florida. Now I'm planning for the next one. We want to go from Atlanta west to the Grand Canyon, then through Monument Valley and so forth, up to the Black Hills, then circle back to Atlanta on some route north of I-20.

Three questions:
1. What time of year?
2. From Grand Canyon north to the Black Hills, what are the must see sites that you love?
3. On the way back from Black Hills to Atlanta, what are the must sees?

And how much time do you have for this tour?

Depends how long it will take? I'm thinking minimum 2 weeks, maybe 3.

You’re going to get a lot of seat time and view of the car windows. Take it from someone who grew up out here, that’s not even close to enough time.

Maybe Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and Four Corners then drive like hell to go home.

You know, if I were traveling just to the GC and back -- no end around to visit the Black Hills -- it would take six days just for the driving.

Check out Fort Robinson State Park in western Nebraska. Great old fort from pony soldier days to WWII, wrestling mammoths, and a very nice place to overnight in your RV.
