Where is the best spot to park an AS to view the shuttle launch?

We had a really nice view in downtown titisville(Ithink thats the name) there is a field there and the traffic is not as heavy, you'll need binoculars but you can see the entire launch pad from there.

Thanks, mercury7!
Baxter, we are planning on seeing the launch, if it goes within a few days of schedule.

There are a number of spots on the Indian River, due west of the launch area.... motels and such. Not sure about camping spots. Enjoy the launch and let us know what you find.
You might try NASAGuy here for some info.

I've been there for several, always on a ship in Port Canaveral. Great vewing - problem is the timing is not announced for security reasons and camping there is limited. If you are military - there is limited (I think) camping at the Coast Guard station in the port area - call ahead. I have seen campers there before - may of been temp housing??????? If they give a window of time I recommend this location - great views of the launch and you can park on the side of the road. Plenty of shoulder room. Of course - times have changed and I cannot be sure this area is available - there is a parking area for picnics there and you might get in there for the day.
Have you seen one before? Well worth the trip and Kennedy Space Center has great displays.

Another try
We went to the last shuttle launch in Nov or Dec, but didn't see it due to a launch delay. It launched the day we left.
I was just able to make reservations for June 8-12 at Manatee Hamock Park. It is supposed to be very close to the launch. Was supprised that I could still get reservations, but they said they still had a few, but would definately fill up.
Really looking forward to it!

Thanks, Doug, I have thoughts that I may have made reservations at the wrong park, but will have to stay with them. Jetty Park does look like a great place!

On launch day they open up Jetty park to car traffic. For a few $, many come to watch. I don't think you can get closer to the launch.
