Organ Pipe National Monument

Been there twice, once last December and once in January 2018. Very nice campground: fantastic views and night sky. No hookups but there’s a water fill and dump station. Campground is divided between generator and no generator area. Solar heated showers are either very hot or not hot at all. Take the driving tour which has a lot of info about the various desert plants, including the organ pipe cactus which gives the park its name.
Park sits right on the border and includes an official port of entry into Mexico, if that’s your desire. Worth at least a couple of nights. We’d go back again if we were in the area.
We’ve been in at least 4 Arizona State Parks, and have found them to be among the best run anywhere.
If you want to spend time sightseeing Tucson, Catalina State Park just north of town is very nice in its own right and convenient to the area. Mount Lemon is worth a day trip.

Middle to western AZ

Lake Pleasant Regional Park northwest of Phoenix has great desert lakeside views and wild burros. Buckskin Mountain State Park along the Colorado River near Parker beats Quartzite in my opinion.

Karchner Caverns State Park near Bisbee. Electric and water hookups plus caverns tours. If you like old cars, Midnight At The Oasis the first week of March in Yuma.

Look us up at the 4CU Rally. You must hike Boynton Canyon Northwest of Sedona. Regards Ed

Best BLM campground!

Burro creek campground on Rt 93 is probably the nicest BLM campground you will find.Water and dump available at the entrance, clean INDOOR bathrooms!
x2 on Valley of Fire!!!
A little pricey, but Willow Bend on the Colorado south of Hoover Dam.
Happy Trails

Patagonia Lake State Park, South of Tucson by Nogales. My uncle took me there for the day when I was 12 years old. Went swimming.

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Highly recommended if you don't mind dry camping. The sites are superb (level concrete and with patio) and wonderful scenery with good hiking. It's one of our favourite spots.

Lake Pleasant is nice as are Usury Mountain Regional Park and Lost Dutchman SP (all are around Phoenix). The latter two will be difficult to get into without reservations.

Went to Lost Dutchman last year in February. We were put in an overflow lot which was OK.

Sierra Vista. If you are military eligible Fort Huachuca has a great RV park.
